Periodontal Patent Update

News Update

Transcell Biologics baggedan exclusive right (patent) granted for it’s invention on a next gen technology for dental implants aided with multiple bio functions restoring the periodontal physiology by UK Patent Office – Nov 20th 2019.

Patent Addressable Market: Dental Implants Industry – The global dental Implants market was valued at USD 4.38 Billion in 2018 and is expected to reach USD 8.06 Billion by year 2026, at a CAGR of 7.9%.
Relevance: Next generation dental implants for improved periodontal restoration
Dental implant is a metallic component implanted to act as orthodontic anchor between the bone of the jaw or skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, denture, facial prosthesis. The basis for contemporary dental implant success is a biologic process called Osseointegration, in which implant materials such as titanium form an intimate inorganic bond to bone. The implant fixture is placed to trigger Osseointegration, then a dental prosthetic is added as part of the procedure. A variable amount of healing time (6-12 months) is documented for Osseointegration before either the dental prosthetic (a tooth, bridge or denture) is attached to the implant or an abutment is placed which will hold a dental prosthetic/crown. It is well known that success or failure of implantation depends on the health of the patient and the health of the tissues in the mouth.
Transcell Biologics has developed a technology (Granted UK Patent Number:GB2555901) of making stable next generation Stem cell-Implant Biocomplex as a product with enhanced functions in restoring normal physiology in the mouth to present to the patient at outpatient department.

The technology developed could be branded as guided tissue restoration tool in dentistry. Some of the advantages shown practising this technology are:

  • Presenting an inert implant as bio-implant
  • Shortening the time taken for Osseointegration
  • Accelerating the process of Osseointegration inside the patient’s mouth
  • Facilitating the scope for proprioception, Lessening the pain felt by the patient after the implantation.

The cell-Implant biocomplex’s functional output is shown the most optimal for the long-term stability and survival of dental implants.
